Long time, no see…
Both Mercury and Jupiter’s gone direct and everything seems to be falling into place for me. Pluto enters Aquarius on January 20th. Apparently Pluto has been in Capricorn for the last 16 goddamn years and has hit cardinal signs the hardest. You know…Capricorn, Libra, Aries, and Cancer. I can’t wait for the pressure to loosen up and experience this breath of fresh air.
I turned 35 on January 4th which feels sort of weird yet good. There were times I wasn’t sure I’d make it to this age, but here we are. I ate some cheesecake which is part of my yearly ritual celebrating my solar return aka my birthday, I smoked some loud and watched Poor Things which was a phenomenal experience. I’m 35 winters strong and super excited for the rest of this year.
First order of business: Bullet Tooth pre-orders are live. The actual release date is Feb. 6th. Make sure you add the book on Goodreads here.

Let’s say you don’t feel like waiting until February 6th, well you’re in luck because reviewers can download an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) on Book Sirens here.
“Damn son, where’d you find this?”
Long-time readers might have noticed I have a tendency to put out certain books as special editions. Rare/based edition for A Lightbulb’s Lament. Slowed and throwed edition for Black Gypsies. Scorched Chrome edition for Melancholy’s Finest. This has always been a bit of a joke, but this year I decided to make a real alternative edition for Bullet Tooth.
What you see above is the Dark Oblivion edition of Bullet Tooth. New cover art by Mike Corrao, exclusive interior art by Rachel Lilim, new layout/fonts by Kelby Losack, and a new synopsis. Only 50 of these bad boys will be printed so this will become a collector’s item.

That’s the bookmark you’ll receive if you order either paperback directly from me here. The amazing art design is by Carlos Sustache.
The Coy Caterpillar included Bullet Tooth on their Horror Books Releases 2024 list. You can check it out here.
The TikTok Initiative
I never thought these words would ever come out of my mouth, but I have joined the ranks of Tiktok and I’m making videos primarily focused on my writing career, books, my process, and more.
I always thought the platform was dumb, but I’ve been feeling an urge to make video content pushing my books and after much deliberation with JDO and an astrologer, Tiktok seems like the perfect place. If you want to get to know a different side of me and see the visual side of things, I recommend you subscribe. I’ll be posting over there weekly. I already posted a few vids this past week.
Let’s see how this affects book sales, social media growth, opportunities, etc. later this year. I have some fun stuff planned for February and March.
AWP Book Convention
I booked my flight for AWP in Kansas City. This is one of the biggest book conventions around and I haven’t been since 2016. Eight years since I’ve been to a book convention in general so this is a pretty big deal. I’ll be there slinging books Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with J. David Osborne , E. Rathke (
), and . Find us at the Broken River Books table doing our thing.Writing Updates
I decided I’ll be a proper writer this year and I do some real research for one project that I’ll be announcing for the first time here—Project Drip. This is a codename which holds clues to the content inside. Besides that I’ll tell you it’s a fashion horror novel. I’m doing something different and immersing myself in documentaries, taking detailed notes, and really getting a feel for the story, chapter titles, etc.
I’ve done research in the past, but it’s spur of the moment and usually don’t take too much time. So I’ll report back about this process and how it differs from my usual drafts.
Project Bunny Bloodbath is back on track and I feel like I’m finding my footing. Nothing really new to report except things are flowing and I figured out another aspect of the story that has been bugging me. My muse always comes through…

When people say hiphop is dead, I simply roll my eyes. Case in point-JID showing off his lyrical dexterity over a jazzy espionage Conductor Williams beat. The young gunna is stepping on necks and setting a dangerously good tone for 2024.
In some weird way, it makes sense that Playboi Carti would be roaming the Backrooms and raging in the liminal spaces with his posse. Idk who the hell Sexisdeath and Indiana420bitch is, but they fit the bill. And naming this song Backrooms is genius since the movie’s in the process of being made.
Blows my mind that Lil Reese got shot in the throat, survived, and his rap voice feels even more ominous. It’s crazy yet admirable that he’s still threatening the opps despite everything that has happened in Chicago. Paranoia and tension are laced in every bar, but that’s what makes it authentically Lil Reese.
Idk who the first guy is mainly because I came here for Don Trip and of course ole boy delivers in spades. Surrounded by rusted ass cars while decked out in paint splattered overalls in the middle of nowhere, Trip gets back to his roots. His prolific run last year is inspirational.
Until next time…
