I’ve been diving deeper into astrology, but more so trying to get a sense of things like a Cazimi. Sounds like an Italian sandwich drenched in a special sauce you can only get overseas. The best part about it is a Cazimi is even better than a sandwich. To get a good understanding, be sure to check out
’s latest substack on the Mars Cazimi happening today! She phrases things in such a way that it speaks to me on profound levels. What other astrologer is dropping gems like that? She’s talking that astrological talk in a major way. And you know I love it when chthonic is thrown into the mix.
In other news, I’ve been getting bombarded by a vast array of ideas both creative and practical. I have been working on healing myself the last couple years and it’s paying off in spades. I feel like I’ve shed a lot of energetic weight and old piles of skin. I feel lighter and more open to the universe…I’m able to go deeper into my creative plane and pull off my visions more effectively. Feels good. We’re on the right path…
The main thing that stuck out above is the part that says “The ideal future rarely just appears. It has to be honed, grown, sought out and chased down. It has to be hunted.”
Please believe I’m deep in the jungle with my spear and my knapsack.
On the writing front, I’ve been incredibly motivated to finish a fresh draft of Bullet Tooth. This is a polish, but a strengthening and expansion of certain scenes. I was listening to Danny Brown’s fantastic new album Quaranta and teared up as a I was writing a scene with Jasmine. This is always a great sign because these same emotions tend to become imprinted on the page, a psychic pool of feelings that’s impossible to ignore. This happened during Black Gypsies and people cried. I expect waterworks from readers during certain scenes in this book as well.
Earlier this year, I wanted to drop three books, Bullet Tooth being the third this fall, but intuition said naw, wait until winter. Winter is coming *in my Game of Thrones voice* I’m glad I listened to my gut because it’s steering me in the right direction and a weaker version of the book would have dropped. The book is my longest one yet (around 37k) and you know my people are always asking me when I’m going to drop a big body book. The time is coming. Plus, I’m waiting on a couple more blurbs to come in.
Do blurbs work? I think it depends on the name, their level of clout and visibility. But this is a personal sidequest, collecting blurbs from authors I respect like Thanos and his infinity stones.
I sent Bullet Tooth off to Kelby to update the epub/pdf and I’ve been planning out the rollout. Of course, I can’t tell you specifics, but I always ask myself what would Kanye do if he was a writer just as a baseline to springboard my own ideas. And please believe the ideas are cooking…
Also, I finally figured out the third character in Project Bunny Bloodbath and I feel like I can really dig into this first draft and get the ball rolling soon. It’s funny that I randomly saw someone walking and everything clicked into place.
Currently Watching: Love, Death & Robots Season 3 & Lost Season 1. &
& Castlevania Nocturne & Invincible Season 2 & Caught Up
Currently Reading: Full Throttle by Joe Hill & Cosmic Horror Monthly #2 & An Altar of Stories to Liminal Saints by Rios de la Luz and Green Fuse Burning by Tiffany Morris.
Green Fuse Burning is an amazing novella tackling themes of grief, suicidal ideation, issues of identity, and the sanity of artists. Seriously one of the most lyrically potent books I’ve read all year. I hope Tiffany writes more long-form prose moving forward and drops more horror books. I need it.

It’s good to see Rapsody addressing the haters in the vulnerable yet poignant “‘Asteroids.” She’s spitting over a soulful Hit-Boy beat as she talks about her insecurities, points out the gender bias in hiphop, and flexes on her competition. It’s refreshing to see Rapsody dropping bars again.
Alchemist has that Midas touch when it comes to rapping and laying down beats. I’m happy to hear him rapping these slick ass bars and Currensy does his damn thing.
This was my introduction to Beanz—her spitting over a classic beat and keeping it hiphop. She’s skinny, but her voice “voluptuous.” Captivating flow, and no raps about her pussy. I’m keeping my eye on ole girl, she has potential.
Usually Drake gets on my nerves, but I have to give credit where credit is due. One of the best cuts off his last album gets the blockbuster treatment. Hazard Gibson makes this song feel larger than life in terms of visuals and actually makes Drake’s part at the end sound harder than it is. J. Cole got his ass, but Drake managed to find a way to put together one of my favorite music videos that dropped this year.
Until next time…

Ight, Bet. The PRE-ROLL has spoken....
Love the title! Great read, as usual!
