Leo Season & Other Cosmic Tings
Art by Mark Vega
We somehow made it to Leo Season, and the weed is still loud and the sun is still shining hot as ever. I can’t believe it’s about to be August. I’m excited and nervous as hell since two of my books are dropping next month. I’ve been teasing the hell out of these releases for months, but don’t you worry, more promo’s on the way…
It’s cool seeing my second book A Lightbulb’s Lament getting a good amount of love this year. If you dig Salad Fingers and/or Tim Burton flicks, you’ll love this book. If you already read it and loved it, don’t forget to leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Boost the Wamack signal…
On the wild side of the Internet, The Daily Beast did an article on Ukrainian mutant soldiers allegedly created in secret Biolabs and this is why Russia is struggling so hard to overtake them. Sounds like something out of Weekly World News, but still a fun read nonetheless.
Also, stumbled across this cool movie poster for a film in post-production called Slotherhouse on IMDB. I have no idea what it’s about, but sloths and slaughterhouses being combined into a title is badass.
Here’s the book trailer for God’s Leftovers which drops next month via Bizarro Pulp Press. The illustrious Mike Kleine put this together (original music by him as well) and it captures the sheer intensity & vibe of the horror novella perfectly. A lot of the imagery will make more sense after you read the book.
This is probably the most work I put into book promo to date. I feel like every book release should be an event in itself. It’s fun, gratifying, and gets the people going in the best way possible.
On the writing front, I managed to pump out some material for Suicide House, sent out a short story into the young world for submission, and made some progress of Project Hum. A word to the wise, I put the word “project” in front of the books I’m working on just for fun and to add an air of secrecy to my WIPs. Project Bullet Baby won’t be called that when it drops, but it gives you a clue about the content inside. And yes, I swiped this idea from Warren Ellis.
Currently Watching: Moon Knight & Ozark Season 1
Currently Reading: Inspection by Josh Malerman & Ill Behavior by M. Steven S. & Berserk by Kentaro Miura & God Damn Chainsaw Murderer by Sean M. Thompson
I’ll probably finish reading Inspection today. Great book dissecting parenthood, the ethics of authority, and secrecy.
Currently Smoking: Area 41 Pre-rolled Moon Rock
Kevin Gates starts out the song by confessing how he’s destroyed on the inside…so you know he’s about lay some pressure down on Future’s 7:12 pm instrumental. It’s safe to say Gates understood the assignment.
FKA Twigs, my spiritual cousin (we share the same big 3 zodiac signs), comes through with a stunning video for “killer.” The vulnerability on display here via interpretative dance is fucking great and makes me want to go even harder with my writing.
You may have seen the viral tiktok of this song floating around the internet thanks to the fantastic opening bars from UK artist Central Cee… “How can I be homophobic, my bitch is gay/hitman in the top, trying to see a man topless, even the stick is gay…” Inclusive bars are dope and bonus points for taking this opportunity to shoot his shot at Doja Cat.
Rico Nasty has been hit and miss for me in the past, leaning on the obnoxious side of rap, but “Blow Me” has me reconsidering my stance. This is bold, catchy and self-assured, and the simplicity of the runway punk rock visuals are on point. Might have to check for Rico moving forward.
This is me inside of my writing cocoon…until next time…roll something good and spiritually smoke something…
