Oh we’re back in a major way…I missed y’all and I’m happy to see some new faces around here. We’re firmly footed in 2023, knee-deep in Capricorn Season (my powers are at an all-time high), and we’re back inside another Mercury Retrograde.
I’m excited for the New Year, but I’m not one for New Year resolutions. My main goals tend to be consistent growth and improvement throughout the year so it doesn’t serve me to write resolutions. I mean I work, work, work, and you might catch me writing supercharged intentions/goals on a new moon, which happens every month. In my personal experience, I feel like this method brings forth tangible results rather than starting something new in the thick of the new year.

In other news, I turned 34 earlier this week, that’s 34 winters on this Earth. I’m blown away by Belladonna of Sadness. I have no idea how I never heard of this. It’s intense, incredibly moving, and trippy. I smoked a Blue Tarantula joint, which isn’t for the weak-hearted.
I do feel different if that makes sense. I’m excited for this year. I consulted with a couple of psychics, my favorite astrologer, and my own tarot cards…all saying this will be a great year across the board. They’re not lying because A LOT is going on behind the scenes and we’re only 7 days into 2023.
Might fuck around and have three books come out this year along with some other goodies. Only time will tell…
My short story “Rolling With the Gawd$” made it into issue 12, which is the final issue of Bear Creek Gazette. This publication always features heavy hitters so I’m extremely happy I made it in and this is one of my favorite short stories I ever wrote.
I had a new motivational essay drop over the Bestseller substack focusing on the 10,000 hour rule and writing. I encourage you to subscribe because I’ll be dropping essays on writing throughout the year since I’m part of the editorial team now. And of course you’ll continue getting this essays every week as well.
On the writing front, there’s a million things in motion. I finished revising Project Bullet Baby and turned it into a mystery publisher who liked my initial pitch back in October. Keep your fingers crossed because I feel like this is one of my best books.
Lots of forward motion on Project Hum and I’ve been talking to that publisher constantly. I know the real title and cover is public, but I like being coy. I’m on the blurb hunt once again, which is always interesting. I have a few people who said yes so I’ll be pleased if they actually come through.
A few short stories are in progress. I missed too many cool submission calls last year so I want to be ready. They won’t catch me slipping in 2023.

Cuco comes through with trippy visuals for his moody pop song “First of the Year.” It’s emo, vulnerable, and sweet. I hope whoever inspired this song heard it and appreciates it.
Nice vibey joint from the young firestarter BKTHERULA with an amazing beat change towards the end. Sparkly production, talking shit, and a flow that’ll make you think Playboi Carti couldn’t compete…
Damn, Kodak Black said he’s trying to change his life and people think he’s a clone. I had no idea that hurt him so deeply. Kodak vents about life’s up and downs with Scarface visuals and I’m here for it.
I never knew I needed dancehall trap in my life until I heard SVM’s single “Brabus (WTF).” SVM talks his shit and flexes over the course 2 minutes and 35 seconds. I’m keeping my eye on ole boy.
Until next time…
Damn dawg! Your energy is 🔥! Loving this 2023 version of you! Keep GOING!!!!
