Screenplay Daze
We’re starting this newsletter off with a fresh announcement. Literary Loud will be published bi-weekly instead of weekly.
Why the changes, Grant?
Well I’ve had a lot of fun pumping these out from week to week, but sometimes the overall quality suffered due to the time constraints. So there’s that. The second reason is a lot more happens in two weeks as opposed to one. Now that we have that out of the way…
I’ve been buckling down and studying screenwriting. It feels like a creative redirection. It feels like a soft nudge, a prompting by the universe at large. I listen whenever this happens.
I used to write some short screenplays back in the day, but I don’t know the medium/formatting too well. Storytelling is in my blood, but I have to put in the work to do well in this space. So I’m reading screenplays and immersing myself in the medium. My brain is shifting and revving up.
The second time I had a tango with screenplays was back in Seoul. When I was stationed there, my friend group was nothing but creatives, specifically actors, choreographers, singers, playwrights, directors, etc. A friend of mine and I began putting together ideas for a Twilight Zone type of tv show set in Seoul, dripping with Korean culture and symbolism. I would be the primary writer and he would direct. We had local actors and special effects people on board. I was shaping up to become something special, but then…
…Big Navy scooped me up and said an aircraft carrier needed me despite my contract saying I’d finish my time out there. I returned to writing books, but this year, new waves of inspiration have hit me.
I’m diving back in.
Writing Updates
Progress on Project Bunny Bloodbath and slowed down and a separate DARK project has come to a halt.
Why, Grant?
I was racking my brain trying to figure it out, and came to the realization that I’m too happy to write these damn books. I’m not telling y’all why, but just know there are good reasons and it’s consistent. What happens to Project Bunny Bloodbath?
I had a projected date and the cover’s done, but I’m just going to let it be for now until inspiration strikes. It feels good not having that pressure on my back and I’m free to move creatively. I have a million other projects and a few people who want to collab. Y’all would lose your mind if you knew who I’m planning to collab with. Picture two of your favorite rappers getting in the studio, but it wouldn’t be hard to figure out if you think about my circle…

Capo stumbles on this beat, but he eventually catches the waves and takes off. Rap is so polished nowadays, it’s refreshing to see Jim actually freestyling here and talking greasy. Plus, we get a mini rant and 100k flashed in the background.
I almost forgot Big Sean rapped until the algorithm shoved this in my face. I’ve always liked Sean’s connection to spirituality and willingness to be vulnerable on tracks. “Whole Time” serves an update on his life, but also a nostalgic letter to his younger self, notating the accolades in his career. Fire.
This is my first timing hearing Sidney Gilliam, but you can tell ole boa means every word he sings with his chest. We need more of this in rnb. This sweet cut resonates and is a nice lovey dovey vibe. Can’t wait to hear what else he drops in the future.
Until next time…
